Whinberry & Antler to exhibit at the Country Living Fair 2012

Whinberry & Antler will be traveling down to London in March for the Country Living Spring Fair 2012. This means there is now a lot of printing and sewing to be done, as well as upholstering to really build up the stock. It's also the chance to get creative and think about what the Whinberry & Antler stand will look like... you will have to come along and see what we come up with!

Whinberry & Antler Etsy shop now open for business.

The Whinberry & Antler Etsy shop has just opened its virtual doors for business. Currently only two products are listed, but this will be increasing as the week goes on. To view the shop please visit;

In other news, I entered a mood board into this years Heico competition. Heico produce decorative nails for upholstery. My mood board which was based around kingfishers and autumnal colours & was accepted to go through to the next round where I actually upholster a small nursing chair featuring these designs. The chair will then be judged in January and the winner and two runners up will have their chair showcased at the Interiors show at the NEC this February 2012. It would certainly be lovely to win!

Therefore, this also means that a new range of Whinberry & Antler fabric will soon be on its way, featuring kingfishers and wild plant life.

Letters, Business Cards and Wax Seals...

Amongst all the sewing and printing I am also currently preparing letters and images to send out to retailers.

These are my hand screen printed letters and business cards, as well as labels for products and Whinberry & Antler's very own wax seal (just to make receiving letters from Whinberry & Antler that little bit more interesting!) The business cards are also screen printed onto fabric.

The Whinberry & Antler logo was designed by my brother, Seb Ingham, a young and very talented graphic designer. He also helped a great deal with the visual branding of Whinberry & Antler. To see more of his work please follow the link to his blog - I highly recommend a visit.

Sew, Print, Sew.

Things are very busy here at Whinberry & Antler at the moment. It's all about the screen printing and sewing. I am hoping to have photographs ready by early next week to get a small catalogue out and sent to retailers. Here I am, busy at work in my office (the kitchen table!).

New Photographs of Whinberry & Antler cushions

The new photos of Whinberry & Antler's new cushions are here.

Today was a beautiful Autumn day and so I took the opportunity to photograph the newly completed cushions outside surrounded by all the lovely autumnal colours.

First Whinberry & Antler cushions complete.

The first Whinberry & Antler cushions are complete, I decided to use both the printed cotton and hessian together to add some extra texture- I think it works well to give a really natural look.

I am now working on various other designs of cushions so that there will be range of Whinberry & Antler cushions of different designs and prints. Photos of these will be added as soon as they are complete.

I am still waiting for the delivery of the woven Whinberry & Antler labels, but I used the sample one for this cushion and I am really pleased with it.

Start Up Britain in Shropshire

I attended the Start Up Britain Roadshow in Telford's International Conference centre on Wednesday. It went really well, got lots of good information about starting up businesses and made some good connections. The highlight of the event was being chosen as the best new business, which was an amazing confidence boost and I won a laptop! It was really good to see people who liked the new designs for fabric and being very interested in Whinberry & Antler. The photo below is was taken of myself, holding a cutting of Whinberry & Antler fabric, and Fay Easton, who ran the event and invited me to it.

Here's a link to some press info about the event - http://www.shropshirelive.com/2011/09/27/sound-success-for-startup-shropshire/

So I am now carrying on with upholstering a small wing back chair and the silk screen table is being constructed today, very exciting.

Thursday 22 September 2011

Here are the first few Whinberry & Antler fabric designs. Each image is produced by hand by firstly making an etch plate, then putting the printed image from this onto a silk screen, and then printing them onto fabric. Stay tuned for more images and explanations on this process...

Well, this is the first Whinberry & Antler blog, so the pressure is on. My reason for starting this blog is to give you an informal insight into my business, I want to to show people what Whinberry & Antler is all about. I'm a one man band so it's quite nice to share these things.... I hope you enjoy it.
